14. Cultural Festival!
An annual event held by most schools in Japan, from Nursery Schools to Universities is 文化祭 (bunkasai), or in English, Cultural Festival. The event covers a variety of games, shops and events that each school club and individual classes want to do, like a hunted house or a cafe. The school classrooms and gymnasium are temporarily transformed into restaurants or cafes which offer foods and drinks. Dances, concerts and plays may be performed by individual volunteer or by various school clubs, such as the dance club, the orchestra club, the band club and the drama club. Often, alumni take the opportunity to visit their school and witness what the new students have done during the festival. The Cultural Festivals are intended to be a fun event, but it is also the only opportunity each year for students to see what life is like in other schools. It is also intended to enrich people's lives by increasing social interaction and fostering community ties.
